The former barracks were build in the years 1885-1891 for the first Prussian “Ulanen-guards” regiment and is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage program, in the immediate vicinity of the “Park Sanssouci” and the city centre. The area is a common living area with heritage listed buildings and single family as well as detached houses.

The location immediately adjacent to the centre of Potsdam, also provides for excellent public transport connections (5 minutes to the city centre, 10 minutes until Potsdam Hauptbahnhof), and a very good infrastructure with neighbouring schools, day care centres, children's playgrounds, sports facilities, as well as doctors and shopping opportunities in a very child-friendly environment.

After completion, and according to the present plans, the whole housing project will accommodate approximately 95 residential units with sizes of ca. 99.16 sqm to approximately 189.39 sqm and 140 outdoor parking spaces. These will be gradually transformed and modernized in four stages. The former riding arena and the cold storage unit next to the housing area are also to be renovated and converted into apartments.

All houses and apartments will have generous private terraces or their own balcony, or even private gardens mostly with a South / Western orientation. The beautiful canopy-roofs with room heights of up to 5.80 meters, and the very individual and attractive architecture with brick walls create an exceptional living environment.

The modernization will develop demanded house and flat sizes and functional floor plans with high-quality equipment and bright rooms. Each apartment or every house has at least one parking space on the premises. Further arguments are the excellent rental market conditions, since there is virtually no vacancy in Potsdam, the favourable population growth forecast, and that in the neighbouring, similarly designed, project more than 80% of the houses were sold to self-users.
